The Comic

Nikki van Zandt is a twenty year old chemistry/computer science student hailing from the far distant lands of Canada. She lives in the province of Saskatchewan (y'know, the one that's easy to draw and has a population of barely one million? Has lots of trees and lakes and stuff up north, but no one believes that because, omg, clearly there's only praries and there's no way that the Canadian Shield extends as far West as Saskatchewan!!?) and, obviously, attends one of the two universities there. Here's a hint: if she was smart, she'd be going to the other one.

Of course, at the time of this writing, Nikki is actually nineteen. However, as her birthday is on the 29th (of June), she feels that having to go back and edit this page in a few weeks is just ridiculous... even though she'll be doing so anyway since she keeps forgetting to add the Google Analytics code. And the link to the RSS feed. And the link to the first comic.

Nikki is incredibly disorganized and lives in what is referred to as a chaotic order. Part of the problem is her bad habit of drawing on computer paper, leading her to spread drawings all across the floor. The other problem is that she has run out of room on her bookshelf for her books and dvds. A simple solution would be to sell all of her old textbooks, but she refuses to do so, despite the fact that she never looked at them in the first place.

Nikki is perpetually caught in a never ending circle of drama and indecision. She desires to pursue many different career paths and rarely do they line up. At the time of writing, she desires to be A) an astronaut, B) an astrochemist, C) an analytical chemist, D) a programmer, E) a webdesigner, F) a writer, G) a comic artist, H) a historian and I) a permanent student. She has no real desire to graduate from university, and thus is likely to keep going until she A) gets a PhD, B) gets a bunch of PhDs or C) runs out of money. Option C is, unfortunately, the most likely since she'll have to move out of her parents' house eventually. Maybe. When she's thirty?

Despite her interests in the fine arts (and some of the arts, but that's really just limited to history and classical studies... and that also overlaps with the fine arts), Nikki has no real talent in it and is just making it up as she goes along. The sciences are her true area of aptitude and thus she will most likely choose a job in that field. That, and starving artists are a lot more common than starving scientists (especially since analytical chemistry is an in demand field at the moment) and, well, Nikki likes financial security. Nikki would go insane without financial security.

Nikki has been drawing since she was twelve and writing since she was thirteen. Both are learned skills and she feels that neither of them are up to par. In all honesty, she is doing this comic as an experiment and an attempt to improve her skills before starting one of her epics.

Nikki really likes talking in third person. A lot.
